About

Collision is a metaphor for the paradox of creation and destruction: collisions releasing creative energy and a catalyst for change. Simultaneously, collisions create trauma and destruction, whether on the plane of cultural, emotional or physical.

Beginning in 2008, Collision was in creation simultaneously at the Dance Centre and the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre. The aim of the piece was to connect work with dance professionals and community engaged work with multicultural and intergenerational dancers – site specific and stage based.

An informal studio showing of Collision took place at The Scotiabank Dance Centre in Vancouver B.C. on Thursday May 7, 2009 from 2:30-4:00 in the Birmingham Studio.

Work-in-progress performances of Collision took place at the Roundhouse Theatre in 2010.

 Collision premiered in July 2011.
