Truth and Reconciliation
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Karen Jamieson Dance is observing September 30th, 2021, the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, by recognizing the trauma and suffering enacted by residential schools in Canada and honouring the survivors, their families, and communities, some of whom are part of our Carnegie Dance Troupe. Today, and everyday, we honour them, their artistry, their strength, and their power to create beauty.
Through our work with these artists we have become aware of the healing power of dance. This transformative power to heal has become central to the work of the company and to the creative collaborations of the Carnegie Dance Troupe.
“...Art might be one of the most potent tools for survival that human beings have come up with to date and dance might possibly be the most powerful of these tools.” Karen Jamieson
