Reviews

“Perhaps the most powerful moment in the work is the opening, when the two stand back-to-back, pulsating in coordinated abdominal contractions that make them appear to be a single passionate animal. Deeble and Martell are both strong, muscular dancers, and the light and shadow play across their bodies, underlining some of their subtler movements. When they eventually break into a bigger dance, they execute the crude, aggressive moves – jumping, lifting, and crawling – with power and confidence. Still, the piece was originally danced by Jamieson and Kokoro Dance’s Jay Hirabayashi, and it’s hard not to wish those two powerhouse performers would continue to dance this one.”
