Reviews

“Out of all the compositions on the program my favourite was Karen Rimmer’s ‘Generation’ a kinetically very lyrical piece which I could see again and again. It moves so naturally and the transitions are so much on the flow that it is difficult to express in prose. Images appear but soon change form. The dancers never assume static roles but appear to continually interchange with one another. They shrink to the ground, grow quickly, leap and turn to cover great areas of space.

There is conflict too, but when there is it is always decidedly lyrical. It is this lyricism in fact which establishes the impersonality of the pieces while at the same time keeping it clearly in touch with the emotional content of the composition. The trio of dancers, Peggy Florin, Terry Hunter, and Karen Rimmer gave a clear and sensitive performance of the piece, accompanied by the music of the Purcell String Quartet.”
