A Visit from Jeff Corness & a KJD Archives Throwback

Near the end of July 2023, we were fortunate enough to receive a visit from composer Jeff Corness to the KJD office. Jeff Corness is a long time collaborator of the company and a very beloved member of the KJD family.

He dropped off 8 VHS tapes, several of which contained dance footage not seen in decades! Among the tapes that Jeff dropped off was some rehearsal footage of none other than Jay Hirabayashi and Karen Jamieson, practicing a piece called Redemption from 1995. This was an exciting gift for the archives, but it didn’t end there! After speaking to Jeff and hearing all of his stories, we were inspired with the seeds of an idea for a new oral history project…stay tuned for more on this in the Fall!

In the meantime, please check out this newly digitized video of the Redemption (1995) rehearsal, as well as a sampling of photos of Jeff from the archives.

That is a lot of stories to tell!
